Our Mission & Vision

We can’t change the past for a child who has experienced abuse or neglect. Fortunately, we can change their future by speaking up for them in the present. When judges appoint Court Appointed Special Advocates, a child’s future begins to be re-written.

OUR MISSIONOUR CORE VALUES
Henrico CASA - Values Image

For 30 years, Henrico CASA, a nonprofit organization, has been recruiting, screening, training, and supervising skilled volunteers who serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates. These advocates represent the needs of abused and neglected children in the courtroom, child welfare system, and beyond.

A CASA Advocate’s role is to learn, engage, collaborate, report and make recommendations to the court. While doing this, they become a consistent presence in the child’s life, offering stability and security. They also have the opportunity to build up families and promote healthy homes.

Our best-interest advocacy is driven by the guiding principle that families offer vital connection and cultural identity for children. We work to strengthen children and families, together, when that can be safely achieved. We envision a day when all children live in safe and stable homes.

Henrico CASA is Celebrating 30 Years of Serving our Children and Courts!

Since 1994, we have amplified the voices of 4,228 (and counting!) local children… children who would otherwise go unheard. Our advocates intervene on behalf of hurting children to say, “this is not how your story will end.” And now, youth across RVA are writing new chapters for themselves and future generations!

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

Henrico CASA advocates in court for a child’s best interests and seeks to educate the community concerning the needs of abused and neglected children.

OUR VISION STATEMENT:

All children in Henrico County live in safe and stable homes.

OUR CORE VALUES:

Henrico CASA is committed to:

Family preservation and reunification.

Children grow up best in their families. Our work will support preservation and reunifications whenever that can be achieved safely.

Diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Our children come from all parts of Henrico County. We believe our volunteers, management and staff, and our Board should reflect that diversity and should feel safe and comfortable in their roles.

Collaboration within the child welfare and court system.

We will work jointly with professionals throughout the system in the best interest of children.

Gratitude for the commitment made by our volunteers, staff, and donors.

We realize that we could not accomplish our mission without the selfless commitment from many in our community.

Stewardship of the resources entrusted to us.

We will use our resources carefully to help ensure we can serve all children who need us.

There are many ways to help!
