When Davie and his brothers were removed from their home, everything familiar to them changed in an instant.

Davie’s parents faced significant mental health challenges that made it difficult to provide the consistent care their children needed. Fortunately, the brothers were able to remain together, maintaining at least one constant in a time of great uncertainty. The boys’ CASA Advocate became a second constant, visiting the boys regularly and recording observations for the Court.

Years of court hearings and changes in custody followed.

With clear, ongoing updates from Davie’s CASA Advocate, the Court could see that maintaining strong relationships with the children’s extended family was helping them heal. Ultimately, the judge confidently ordered a kinship care placement for the boys.

Today, the boys are right where they belong! They are with relatives who have given them the stability they deserve.

CASA Reflections

Davie’s CASA Advocate was a steady presence in his and his siblings’ lives, but also offered consistency and a thorough case history to the judge on their case. This story shows that the reports CASA submits to the court aid well-informed decisions.

Your support strengthens Henrico CASA’s commitment to the courts so that the best decisions possible can be made on behalf of children like Davie and his siblings.

We are stronger together. And together, we are changing lives.
