For 30 years, every child victim referred to our program by Henrico County’s judges has been matched with a dedicated one-on-one Advocate. We have never turned a child away. In recognition of this remarkable milestone, we invite you to make the CASA Promise.
The CASA Promise is a community of donors standing with Henrico CASA in our unwavering commitment to children. As a promisor, you would pledge to donate $1,500 each year, giving a child a CASA Advocate for that entire year. In doing so, you will ensure that child is safe, secure, and given the opportunity to live up to their full potential.
Together, we can ensure that no child goes unseen or unheard. Email Kristin Blalock, Director Partnerships, to make your pledge.
Thank you for sharing our belief that every child deserves a childhood. There are many ways to invest in our mission, each moving us one step closer to our vision for ALL children in Henrico County to live in safe and stable homes.

Tax Smart Giving
Above the Line Giving
Beginning in tax year 2026, above-the-line deductions for charitable donations are $1,000 per filer who takes the standard deduction.
Please Note: Henrico CASA does not provide tax or investment advice. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax preparer or financial advisor to determine the giving strategies most appropriate for their individual circumstances.
Donor Advised Funds
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a philanthropic giving vehicle that provides an immediate tax benefit to you, while allowing you to support Henrico CASA over time. DAFs can be set up through a financial institution or community foundation. You can then direct gifts to Henrico CASA as one-time or recurring donations.
DAFs are considered giving accounts with the potential to grow. They eliminates capital gains tax on donated stock, possibly providing additional funding when you are ready to make a gift.
Please Note: Henrico CASA does not provide tax or investment advice. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax preparer or financial advisor to determine the giving strategies most appropriate for their individual circumstances.
Stocks and Mutual Funds
Gifting stock is a simple and powerful way to support the lifechanging work of Henrico CASA. The total value of the stock upon transfer is tax-deductible and there is no obligation to pay any capital gains taxes on the appreciation.
When considering a gift of stock, please contact the institution where your stocks are held and let them know you’d like to transfer the shares to Henrico County Court Appointed Special Advocates, Inc. AND notify Kristin Blalock, Director of Partnerships.
Please Note: Henrico CASA does not provide tax or investment advice. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax preparer or financial advisor to determine the giving strategies most appropriate for their individual circumstances.
Qualified Charitable Donations
If you’re 70-1/2 or older, you can donate up to $108,000 per tax year directly from an Individual Retirement Account (IRA)
QCDs count toward your required minimum distribution for the year. If you have to take your required minimum distribution but you don’t want or need the funds, QCDs are a good way to distribute the amount out of the IRA. As an added benefit, you’ll avoid paying income tax on your gross income up to $108,000.
To make a gift through a QCD:
- Your IRA administrator must make the distribution directly to the charity, or you may write a check to the charity from your IRA checkbook. Funds that are withdrawn by you and then contributed do not qualify.
- Help us credit your gift and thank you by having your IRA administrator include your full name and mailing address on the gift. Also, have your administrator note that the transfer is an IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution.
Please Note: Henrico CASA does not provide tax or investment advice. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax preparer or financial advisor to determine the giving strategies most appropriate for their individual circumstances.
Legacy & Planned Giving
Planned gifts are increasingly important to the life and long-term security of Henrico CASA. The funds generated from these gifts, large and small, maintain Henrico CASA’s steadfast commitment to both children and Henrico County’s court system.
There are several ways that you can define a gift through your will or trust:
- Outline a gift of a particular amount of money or a specific item or items (such as shares of a stock).
- Define a gift that will be made from the remainder of your estate once all other bequests, debts, and taxes have been paid. For example, you give a percentage of the remainder of your estate to ensure that your family will be taken care of before your estate makes a bequest to Henrico CASA.
- Specify Henrico CASA’s use of your bequest as unrestricted (for general purposes) or as an endowment bequest (funds invested with our endowment).
In order to avoid any possible question that your bequest is to our organization, be sure to include our full legal name and our federal tax identification number in your bequest.
Legal name: Henrico County Court Appointed Special Advocates Inc.
Tax identification number: 54-1710746
In addition to adding bequest language to your will, here are a few other simple ways for you to make a bequest:
- Make Henrico CASA a designated beneficiary of a life insurance policy, savings bond, IRA, or other retirement plan.
- Instruct your bank or brokerage firm to “pay on death” to Henrico CASA some or all of a specific account.
Please let us know if you have included Henrico CASA in your estate plans. We would welcome the opportunity to thank you for your thoughtful gift and to confirm that we can carry out your wishes.
Please Note: Henrico CASA does not provide tax or investment advice. Donors are encouraged to consult their tax preparer or financial advisor to determine the giving strategies most appropriate for their individual circumstances.
