Evan was born to a single mother, a mother who loved him and didn’t see him as defined by his disability. He was nearing the age when he would start pre-school.
It should have been a bright time, a time of growth, but it was not.
Evan lived with a disability and had many medical needs, needs that were unattended to while his birth mother battled addiction. Years of medical neglect left Evan malnourished and unable to communicate. He was failing to thrive by medical standards… until he was appointed his CASA advocate.
Evan’s advocate believed it is never too late to change a child’s future.
