Emma’s Story
Emma’s life began with uncertainty.
As a newborn, she went straight into foster care because her parents were unable to provide a safe home. They loved her, but were trapped in a vicious cycle of substance use, declining opportunities for treatment and missing visits with Emma.
She spent her early years in limbo.
There were many hearings and appeals as the Court tried to balance Emma’s need for safety and stability with the rights of her parents. With every failed attempt at reunification, Emma returned to her caring foster home.
Emma’s CASA Advocate made sure Emma’s voice, though she was too little to speak, was heard loud and clear. This Advocate reminded the Court that Emma needed safety and permanency above all else. Emma’s foster parents, who had cared for her faithfully since infancy, were willing and able to offer the stability that she needed through adoption.
Today, Emma is thriving in a loving home where she is cherished, protected, and free to grow without fear.
