February is a month often associated with love butat Henrico CASA, love shows up all year round. It’s found in careful listening, informed advocacy, and the steady commitment to children navigating the child welfare system.
Henrico CASA Advocates are trained volunteers who serve as a consistent, child-centered voice throughout a case. Their role is not to make decisions, but to ensure that decision-makers have a complete understanding of each child’s unique circumstances, needs, and strengths.
Love In Action
CASA Advocates take the time to learn each child’s story to get to know them. This looks like listening closely, asking thoughtful questions, and gathering information that helps paint a fuller picture beyond case files and timelines. This insight allows Henrico CASA Advocates to provide informed recommendations to the court, helping ensure that a child’s best interests remain at the center of every discussion.
For many children, a CASA Advocate is one of the few consistent adults involved throughout their case. This continuity helps build trust and provides reassurance in a system that can otherwise feel overwhelming.
This February, as we focus on sharing the love, we recognize our CASA Advocates for the care, dedication, and responsibility they bring to this work. Their commitment reminds us that advocacy rooted in compassion and consistency can make a lasting difference in a child’s life.
Our Advocates are one part of the village that supports children through CASA. In the coming weeks, we’ll highlight the ambassadors, board members, and community partners who help make this work possible: and how you can join them in sharing the love.
